Liberty Wins Shutout

The Liberty Christian football team defeated El Paso Cathedral 28-0 last Friday at home in a game in which the LCS defense allowed 125 yards of total offense.

The Warriors improved to 3-2 on the season with the victory against Cathedral.

Running back Reid Fitzgerald led the way for Liberty Christian with 173 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the contest.

Quarterback Bailee Brown also had a strong showing, connecting with Jake Lawson and Adam Smith on touchdown passes, and Trevor Simms kicked a 32-yard field goal in the game as well.

Liberty Christian plays at 7:30 tonight against Hitchcock at home.

Argyle Opens District With Victory

The Argyle volleyball team opened up District 9-3A competition last Friday with 3-1 victory against the Celina Lady Bobcats.

The Lady Eagles went up 25-18, but Celina pulled even in game two, winning 25-17.

Argyle rallied in the next two games, however, winning 25-22 and 25-16, and will play at 6:30 tonight at Gainesville.

Eagles Lose Heartbreaker Against Old Foe

The Argyle football team lost to former district rival Bridgeport 30-24 last Friday in a game that went down to the wire.

The Eagles moved to 3-2 on the season with the loss to the Bulls.

Argyle got off to a good start on a 20-yard touchdown run from Chad Hedlund, but trailed the game 14-7 at the break.

Hedlund hit receiver Aaron Landrum on a 17-yard touchdown pass to tie things up in the third quarter, and connected with Brady Brown on a 7-yard touchdown reception in the fourth.

Hedlund would add a 38-yard field goal and finish the game with 235 yards passing.

Argyle will be in a bye tonight, but will open up district competition at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Prosper.

Coram Deo Heads into Off-Week on Sour Note

The Coram Deo Lions football team lost 57-0 last Friday night to Frisco Legacy Christian and will head into its bye week tonight at 3-1 on the season.

Turnovers proved to be a problem for the Lions, who tossed three interceptions in the contest.

Coram Deo will open district competition at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 against Shelton at Coppell West Middle School.
