Northwest Hockey Team Tryouts Set

Tryouts for the Northwest hockey team will be 8-9:30 p.m. Aug. 19 and Aug. 21 at Euless Green Arena.

"People should try to make it to both tryouts," NHS Hockey Board member Dave Speicher said. "But if they can only make it to one, we’d [still] like to have them come out."

Bobcats Wrap Up Unblemished Summer Season

The Bobcats youth basketball team finished up their summer basketball season with a perfect 11-0 record in the Roanoke Recreation Center summer basketball league.

The Bobcats are a U10 team.

Team members include Chase Flickinger, Cayson Fincher, Joseph Christlieb, Daryll Crockett, Adam Koster, Joe Greutman, Preston Haire, Josh Lindquist and Logan Breton.The team is coached by Jimi Haire.

The Bobcats are named for the new Byron Nelson High School mascot.

Warriors Win National Championship

The Flower Mound Warriors 10U select baseball team recently captured a national championship at the Triple Crown National Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

According to a news release, "the team played against 32 of the top major level teams in the United States and won the championship with a perfect 7-0 record."

The Warriors won the Texas Super Series National level state tournament in Flower Mound only a few weeks prior to the national championship victory.

Team members include Sean Calley, Antonio Lima, Hunter Seay, Sean McElwee, Alex Jackson, Taylor Barber, Chad Book, Bryan Seamster, Jack Waggoner, Ryland King and Boston Mallory.

The team is coached by Paul Lima, Curtis King, Joel Seay and Sean Barber.

Summer 'Beat the Heat’ Fun Days Dates Set

The annual Summer "Beat the Heat" Fun Days event at Quail Run Farm in Argyle will take place Aug. 16-17.

Cross Country schooling will be offered on Saturday and Sunday morning, and a combined test will be given on the morning of Aug. 17.

The event will be limited to 40 youth and adult riders.

A late fee will be charged to those who registered after Aug. 9 if ride time is still available.
