Tryouts for 14U Baseball Team

The 14-and-under Texas Sting Baseball Club in Haslet will be having open tryouts in August.

The majority of tournaments in which the Sting will compete will feature regulation-size baseball diamonds (90-foot basepaths).

Flower Mound Force 10U Squad Wins State

The Flower Mound Force 10-and-under AA baseball team, coached by J.T. Grubbs, continued a successful season with a USSSA Texas State championship title.

The Texas North Zone USSSA State Tournament hosted 25 of the best 10-and-under AA teams in the region June 27-30 in Plano.The Force won six of seven games in four days to earn the title.

Team members are Derek Mueller, Coleman Grubbs, Jackson Daggett, Duncan Berger, Ethen Shults, Alex Albright, Carson Miller, Kyle Fenner, Dagan McCombs, Brooks Wallace, Aaron Epping and Mathew Cook. Coaches are Andy Mueller, J.T. Grubbs, Jim Daggett, Bob Epping and Leonard Albright.

Force 13U Wins League, Plays in World Series

The Flower Mound Force is a 13-and-under select baseball team with players from Flower Mound and surrounding areas. Prior to their World Series tournament, the Force compiled a season record of 38 wins, 10 losses and four ties.

During the season, the Force won tournament championships in McKinney, Mansfield, Fort Worth and Flower Mound. The team also captured a league title.

Team members include Marcus Howard, Garrett Carter, Taran Kilian, Trent Hodapp, Cory Duran, Parker Shoaf, Chris McKeehan, Sam Gurksnis, Andrew Piccin, Finn Foster and Seth Jones. Steve Shoaf and Scott Hodapp coach the team.

FM Youth Wins Home Run Derby

Connor Martin of Flower Mound won a home run derby held July 6 in DeSoto. Connor represented the 8-and-under Flower Mound Warriors in the finals.

He was one of three finalists out of 58 competitors. Connor hit four home runs off 12 pitches.

Connor was honored for his achievement at home plate at the Texas Rangers baseball game on July 9.

Connor continued to play well for the Warriors during the tournament, batting 17-of-21 (.810 batting average), including a bases-clearing triple and a three-run home run.
