For the first time in more than 30 years, Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville found itself in a position of seeking a new pastor.
When Dr. Ben Smith, Lakeland’s pastor since 1975, announced his retirement in late 2006, the church began its search for their next pastor. After an 18-month long process, Dr. Ron Osborne was called to lead Lakeland as its new senior pastor.
Osborne, a native of southern Indiana, comes to Lakeland from Keck Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville, Ind., where he spent 10 years as its senior pastor. Prior to that, he was associate pastor at First Baptist Church in Henderson, Ky.
Osborne received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Indiana, and his Master of Arts.
Osborne’s wife, Becky, earned her Bachelor of Science and her master’s degree from the University of Southern Indiana.
The Osbornes’ have four children – Katie, 14, Emma, 10, Ellie, 6, and William, 5 – and are looking forward to getting to know Lakeland and their new community.
Osborne’s first Sunday at Lakeland was July 20.
