Daniel Patrick Cassidy of Highland Village was arrested July 2 by police and remains in jail after allegedly sexually assaulting two female minors.
The 47-year-old man was charged with indecency with a child and aggravated assault of a minor.
“The Police Department was investigating Cassidy for indecency with a child when another victim came forward and the two counts of aggravated assault of a minor were then charged,” Public Affairs Manager Laurie Mullens said.
Cassidy was a girl’s soccer coach for the Greater Lewisville Soccer Association since 2005, but President Brad Kerley said he is officially no longer on the roster.
“Naturally, we do background checks on staff members, but Cassidy had no prior offenses.” Kerley said. All that is known about the association between Cassidy and the female minors is that they did not play on his soccer team Mullens said.
“It is unfortunate in this day and age things like this happen. We need to take the time to educate our kids on how to reduce their risks,” Mullens said.
Highland Village Police are conducting a thorough on-going investigation on this matter.
