On Monday, the Planning and Zoning commissioners unanimously approved the construction of an office building located within the Lakeside Business District, and extended the use of temporary buildings for two churches.
CCM Design, Inc. Engineer Jeff Crannell said he was really excited to proceed with the construction of the new building that will be located at 801 Enterprise Road.
"Early on we looked at opportunities for this property, and realized that we had a real jewel on our hands," Crannell said. "We want people to be able to see this building and realize this is a nice city to live in and to lease office space in."
"I was really quite captivated with the design. I thought it was a very attractive design for the location," Commission Chairman Nick Hollingshad said. "I think they certainly did exceed many of our standards."
The commissioners also received presentations from representatives of the Flower Mound Presbyterian Church and the First Korean Baptist Church for the use of temporary building on the properties.
Explorations Preparatory School Board of Directors member John Sawinski asked for an extension to use the temporary building for three additional years.
He added that since 2006 the school has faced some hardships that have affecting the plans for expansion.
"We had a school director and an administrator that had pretty serious medical events that took the entire leadership of the school offline," he said.
However, Sawinski said things are starting to turn around and get back on track.
"We doubled the size of our board of directors and we will be able raise some money," he said.
The First Korean Baptist Church, located at 200 Flower Mound Road also requested an extension of the use of its temporary building. First Korean Baptist Church Representative Yoon Kim said the church plans starting construction for expansion of the church this time next year.
